USA Bobsled Names the 2024/25 World Cup Team

LAKE PLACID, NY (November 9, 2024) - USA Bobsled has announced the 2024/2025 World Cup team.

The IBSF has ruled that the U.S. will be allocated 3 World Cup quota spots for the women and the men. Additionally, Kaillie Humphries will have a 4th quota spot named to her specifically because of a maternity leave year.

Having four quota spots for the women, six push athletes will be named to the team. Two pilots, Elana Meyers-Taylor and Kaysha Love, earned a bye onto the team from their 2023/24 World Championships results. Humphries had a bye onto the 2023/24 team, but took maternity leave for the season. Therefore, she was selected to the team regardless of selection race results. The fourth spot was awarded to the winner of the selection races, Sylvia Hoffman

The six push female athletes selected are as follows: Bailey Golden, Azaria Hill, Jasmine Jones, Lolo Jones, Sadie McMullen and Emily Renna. However, because McMullen and L. Jones have pre-planned obligations for the first half of the season and cannot commit to all the first half races, the committee selected two replacement athletes for them to start the season, Jestena Mattson and Michelle Quinn. The selection committee will meet in December to review the first half and select the World Cup team for the second half of the season.

With three quota spots for the men, eleven push athletes will be named to the team. No male pilots received a bye based on performance from the previous season, so the three spots were determined by the results of the selection races. Frankie Del Duca, Geoff Gadbois and Kris Horn were the three male pilots named. The male push athletes who have been named to the World Cup team are as follows: Hakeem Abdul-Saboor, Adrian Adams, Bryce Cheek, Martin Christofferson, Dylan Gilbert, Manteo Mitchell, Boone Niederhofer, Hunter Powell, Bryan Sosoo, Carsten Vissering and Charlie Volker.

The first bobsled World Cup race of the year will be in Altenberg, Germany on December 7th. Visit https://www.ibsf.org/en/races-and-results for further information on the World Cup schedule both for bobsled and skeleton.
