USA SKELETON COMPETES IN THE FIRST WORLD CUP RACES OF THE SEASON

PYEONGCHANG, SOUTH KOREA (November 17, 2024)—USA Skeleton participated in the first IBSF World Cup races of the 2024/2025 sliding season this weekend. 

In the Women’s Skeleton division, Katie Uhlaender placed 14th in the first race with a two-run time of 1:49.08 and 16th in the second race with a time of 1:46.79. Mystique Ro placed 15th in the first race and 18th in the second race, with respective combined times of 1:49.10 and 1:47.07. Sara Roderick placed 18th and 12th, with a time of 1:49.49 on the first day and 1:46.49 on the second day. Kelly Curtis placed 23rd on the first day with a two-heat time of 1:50.45 and 33rd on the second day with a one-run time of 55.14.

In the Men’s Skeleton Division, Austin Florian placed 14th in the first race with a combined time of 1:47.74. Dan Barefoot placed 21st with a time of 1:48.64. Hunter Williams placed 33rd with a one-run time of 57.40. In Race Two, Florian placed 14th with a two-run time of 1:43.93, Barefoot placed 21st with a time of 1:45.27 and Hunter Williams placed 29th with a one-heat time of 53.92.

These World Cup races are following two days of Asian Cup races the skeleton athletes competed in on November 8th and 9th. Ro took sixth in both two-heat races, with times of 1:49.16 and 1:49.06. Uhlaender placed 10th in the first race and 13th in the second, with respective times of 1:49.66 and 1:49.62. Roderick placed 15th and 22nd with times of 1:50.47 and 1:50.67. Curtis placed 26th and 29th, with one-heat times of 56.07 and 56.57. On the men’s side, Florian placed 18th in the first race and fourth in the second race, with times of 1:48.00 and 1:46.56. Barefoot placed 25th and 34th with a combined time of 1:49.10 in the first race and a one-run time of 55.83 in the second race. Williams placed 42nd in both races, with one-heat times of 56.59 and 56.90. 

The next stop for USA Skeleton on the World Cup tour will be Yanqing, China on November 23rd. The team will then join the World Cup Bobsled team in Altenberg, Germany to begin the European leg of the 2024/2025 World Cup tour.
